Every ingredient
earned its place.
Each one chosen for its form, its dose, and the research behind it. No proprietary blends. No fairy dust. No filler.
Bioactive forms. Premium sources. Real doses.
Most thyroid-targeted supplements use the cheapest form of every nutrient. We co-formulated ThyroBase with qualified naturopaths, dietitians, research nutritionists, food scientists, and oncology pharmacists around a single question: would I take this every day, for life. Every form below is the answer.
The morning cofactors.
The cofactors your body needs to convert and use thyroid hormone effectively across the day.
Pineapple · CardamomSelenium
Selenomethionine · chelatedAn essential trace mineral.
Cofactor for T4-to-T3 conversion. Up to 30% of post-thyroidectomy people sit at the bottom of the normal range here.
Vitamin B12
MethylcobalaminA water-soluble B vitamin.
Bioactive form, no conversion needed. 27% of hypothyroid people are deficient (Benites-Zapata, 2023).
Plant-Based Iron
Naturally occurring · food-formAn essential mineral.
No added iron compound. It comes from the food base itself: pea and pumpkin seed proteins, spinach, spirulina. Ferritin is one of the strongest correlates of hair shedding and energy, and food-form iron is gentle on the gut.
Zinc
Zinc gluconateAn essential trace mineral.
Required for thyroid hormone synthesis. Pairs with selenium in T4-to-T3 conversion.
Vitamin D3
Plant-source D3A fat-soluble vitamin, sourced from plants.
A daily top-up to support what sunshine and diet provide. Low vitamin D status is linked to autoimmune thyroid conditions.
Vitamin C
Acerola cherry extractA water-soluble vitamin, here from whole acerola cherry.
Whole-food source with bioflavonoid cofactors intact. Supports absorption of the naturally occurring iron in the AM base.
Plant Protein Matrix
24.9 g · four plant sourcesA plant protein blend from four sources.
Yellow pea, brown rice, faba bean, pumpkin seed. Soy-free, complete amino acid profile.
The evening repair.
The nutrients your body needs to settle, repair, and recover overnight. No caffeine. No melatonin. No sedation.
Chocolate · CinnamonMagnesium
Magnesium citrateAn essential mineral.
The most documented mineral for sleep onset and quality (Abbasi, 2012, RCT). Citrate form, well-absorbed.
Glycine
The FSANZ permitted maximumAn amino acid.
Lowers core body temperature for deep sleep and supplies a building block of collagen (Yamadera, 2007, RCT). We include the most FSANZ permits in a food, alongside the glycine naturally present in the protein base. No grogginess.
Chamomile
Chamomile flower powderA traditional evening botanical.
Apigenin binds GABA receptors with calming effect. Useful for the "wired but tired" pattern.
Passionflower + Grapeseed
Botanical extractsTwo botanical extracts.
Passionflower is studied for anxiety-driven sleep onset and pairs with chamomile and glycine for the parasympathetic shift. Grapeseed brings OPC polyphenols for antioxidant support.
Probiotics
5 named strains · 2 billion live CFU per serve · incl. S. boulardiiFive named live strains, including a beneficial yeast.
L. acidophilus, S. boulardii (a beneficial yeast), B. lactis, B. bifidum, B. longum. We named all five and chose them for the thyroid-gut axis, where ~20% of T4-to-T3 conversion happens (Knezevic, 2020), rather than chasing the biggest number on the label. Paired with prebiotic fibre, because live strains need fuel to do their job.
Prebiotic Fibre
Acacia gum + psyllium huskTwo soluble plant fibres.
Feeds the live strains overnight and supports gut barrier function, which matters for hormone conversion.
Real flavour, not chemistry.
The flavouring, sweetening, and finishing ingredients are held to the same standard as the actives. Whole-food sources. No artificial sweeteners. No flavour chemicals.
Cacao
Polyphenol-richThe seed of the cacao fruit, fermented and ground.
The heart of PM cocoa flavour. Naturally rich in magnesium and antioxidant polyphenols.
Vanilla Bean
Whole vanilla beanWhole ground vanilla bean.
Real vanilla bean, not synthetic flavouring. Adds depth and warmth to PM.
Cinnamon
Whole-spiceA whole warming spice.
Adds the warm-spice signature to PM. A traditional warming spice that makes the chocolate flavour read as dessert, not medicine.
Nutmeg
Whole-spiceA whole warming spice.
A pinch in PM for warmth, depth, and a subtle traditional calming note.
Lucuma
Low-glycemic Peruvian fruitA Peruvian fruit, dried and milled.
Low-glycemic Peruvian fruit. Caramel-toffee sweetness without the spike.
Monk Fruit
Zero-calorie fruit extractA fruit-derived sweetener.
Zero-calorie, fruit-derived sweetness. No glycemic impact, no artificial chemistry.
Himalayan Salt
Pink mineral saltA naturally pink mineral salt.
Trace minerals and electrolyte balance. A pinch, not a season.
Greens Blend
Kale, spinach, broccoli sproutThree named culinary greens.
Named, not hidden: kale, spinach and broccoli sprout at culinary levels. Naturally rich in chlorophyll and trace micronutrients.
Spirulina
Freshwater blue-green algaeA freshwater blue-green algae.
Algal protein and pigments. Iron-rich. Quiet plant nutrition in the AM blend.
What we deliberately left out.
What's not in the pouch matters as much as what is. Each exclusion has a reason, most tied to thyroid medication absorption or autoimmune triggers.
| Excluded | Why |
|---|---|
| Added iodine | Unnecessary if you're on thyroid hormone medication. Can interfere with treatment and is documented to trigger or worsen autoimmune thyroid conditions in susceptible people. |
| Kelp | High iodine content by another name. Contraindicated for most people on thyroid medication. |
| Soy isoflavones | Documented to impair thyroid medication absorption and may interfere with hormone signalling. |
| Added goitrogens | No goitrogenic agents are added to either formula: no raw brassica concentrates, no soy, no millet. The greens blend includes kale (1.2 g) and broccoli sprout (0.25 g) per serve, genuinely culinary amounts, a fraction of a side salad. If you are highly goitrogen-sensitive, check with your doctor. |
| Glandular extracts | Unregulated hormone content from animal sources. Quality control is unreliable. |
| Caffeine and stimulants | Caffeine reduces thyroid medication absorption by 25 to 50% if taken too close to your dose. Guarana and synthetic stimulants amplify the wired-but-tired pattern. |
| Melatonin | We support the underlying physiology of sleep (glycine, magnesium, chamomile, passionflower) rather than override it with a hormone signal. |
| Synthetic fillers and gums | Xanthan, guar, carrageenan. None of them earn their place in a daily ritual. |
| Artificial sweeteners | Sucralose, aspartame, acesulfame-K. We use the natural sweetness of cocoa, vanilla, lucuma, and monk fruit. |
