ThyroBase started in an endocrinologist's office with four words: "you have thyroid cancer." Two weeks later, Mum had a seven-hour total thyroidectomy. The cancer had spread to her lymph nodes, so they came out the same day. Then the part nobody warned us about: the months that came after. Mum tells that part below, in her own words.
I went looking for a supplement built for life after a thyroidectomy and found nothing without added iodine, kelp, soy or added goitrogens. So Mum and I built one. Together. Eighteen months ago I was sitting in an endocrinologist's office when I heard words no one is ever prepared for.
Thyroid cancer. Spread to the lymph nodes.
At that moment, my entire world stopped.
What followed was a total thyroidectomy, radioactive iodine treatment, and the beginning of a lifetime on thyroid hormone medication.
