The everyday AM shake, and three easy twists
Most days, the simplest version is the one that gets made. This is the base AM shake: one serve of Pineapple + Cardamom blended with oat milk until it's smooth and a little frothy.
Below it are three small twists for when you want a change, none of which take more than a minute longer.
Serves 1 · Prep 2 minutes · Cook 0 minutes (no cooking)
What you need
- 1 AM serve (40g) of ThyroBase AM, Pineapple + Cardamom
- 250 to 300 ml cold oat milk or water
- A handful of ice (optional)
- Twist 1, iced: extra ice and a squeeze of lime
- Twist 2, thicker: 1/4 cup frozen mango pieces
- Twist 3, spiced: a pinch of ground cardamom or cinnamon on top
How to make it
- Add the oat milk or water to a blender or shaker bottle.
- Add the AM serve, and the ice or frozen mango if you're using them.
- Blend for about 20 seconds, or shake hard for 30 seconds, until smooth.
- Pour into a glass, add your twist, and drink it fresh.
Notes before you start
- If you take thyroid medication in the morning, have your AM serve at least 4 hours after it. Not on medication? Have it with breakfast.
- Breakfast only needs the 30 to 60 minute gap on your tablet's label. The 4 hours is for the AM serve, because it contains minerals.
- Oat milk makes it creamier; water makes it lighter. Both work, so use what suits you.
- AM contains added vitamin D and minerals. If you take prescribed calcium or calcitriol after thyroid surgery, check with your team before starting it, and pause it during any low-iodine diet before radioactive iodine.
Why it suits a thyroid routine
- ThyroBase AM adds plant protein, greens and minerals to your day as a food, not a medicine, with no added iodine and no kelp.
- Spacing it at least 4 hours from a morning thyroid tablet keeps its minerals away from your tablet. Coffee and breakfast keep to the shorter 30 to 60 minute gap.
- It sits alongside your thyroid medication, never instead of it.
This is everyday food, not treatment. Check with your doctor or dietitian about advice for you.
