Is ThyroBase right for you?
ThyroBase is an AM and PM daily nutrition system designed for people living without a thyroid, or with one that no longer keeps up: after a thyroidectomy or radioactive iodine (RAI), with Hashimoto’s, or with an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism). It is not designed for an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism or Graves’ disease), unless surgery or RAI has since left you hypothyroid and on replacement medication. It sits alongside your thyroid medication, never instead of it.
Designed for you if
- You’ve had a thyroidectomy, total or partial, including after thyroid cancer.
- You’ve had radioactive iodine (RAI) therapy.
- You’re living with Hashimoto’s.
- You have an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism).
- Your thyroid results read normal, but you still don’t feel like yourself.
Not the right fit if
- You have an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism), including Graves’ disease.
- You’re pregnant or breastfeeding.
- You’re under 15.
- You’re looking for a replacement for thyroid medication.
- You want a stimulant-based energy boost.
Had Graves’ disease treated with surgery or RAI? If that treatment has left you hypothyroid and on replacement medication, you’re in the group ThyroBase was designed for.
Taking thyroid medication?
ThyroBase sits alongside your thyroid medication, never instead of it. Nothing in it acts on your thyroid hormones, and it is not a treatment for anything.
If you take your medication in the morning, take it first, on an empty stomach, with water only, and wait at least 4 hours before your AM serve, because the AM formula carries minerals. Food and breakfast are a separate rule and follow your medication’s own label, usually 30 to 60 minutes.
If you take it at night, keep the same 4-hour gap and have your PM serve earlier in the evening.
Not on medication? Take your AM serve with breakfast and your PM serve about 45 minutes before bed.
Check with your doctor first if this is you
- Live cultures: the PM formula contains a probiotic blend including Saccharomyces boulardii. If you are immunocompromised, in active cancer treatment, or have a central venous line, talk to your doctor before starting.
- Selenium: the AM formula contains selenium. If you also take a selenium supplement, check your combined daily intake with your doctor.
- Kidney conditions: AM and PM together deliver about 47 g of protein a day. Confirm your protein targets with your doctor.
- Botanicals: PM contains chamomile (ragweed or daisy allergy), passionflower (prescription sedatives) and grapeseed extract (anticoagulant medication).
- Allergens: both formulas contain legume proteins (pea, faba bean), packed in a facility that processes milk, soy, tree nuts and fish.
Common questions
Anything else, contact us and we’ll help.
Is ThyroBase suitable after a thyroidectomy?
Yes. ThyroBase was built for life after a thyroidectomy. Jilda, our co-founder, had a total thyroidectomy after thyroid cancer, and the system was designed around the nutritional needs that change without a thyroid. It sits alongside your thyroid medication, never instead of it.
Is ThyroBase suitable if I have Hashimoto’s?
Yes. ThyroBase is designed for people living with Hashimoto’s or an underactive thyroid, as well as after a thyroidectomy. It contains no added iodine and no kelp. It is food-style nutrition, not a treatment, and it sits alongside any medication you’ve been prescribed.
Is there a thyroid supplement without added iodine in Australia?
Yes. ThyroBase is an Australian-made AM and PM nutrition system for people living with Hashimoto’s, an underactive thyroid or no thyroid, made with no added iodine and no kelp. The AM greens include a little spirulina, which carries a trace of naturally occurring iodine. That is why we say “no added iodine”. It sits alongside your thyroid medication, never instead of it.
Is ThyroBase suitable if I have an overactive thyroid or Graves’ disease?
No. ThyroBase was designed for people living without a thyroid, or with one that no longer keeps up. It is not designed for an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism), including Graves’ disease. If surgery or radioactive iodine (RAI) has since left you hypothyroid and on replacement medication, you are in the group it was designed for. Either way, talk to your doctor before adding anything new.
Can I take ThyroBase with levothyroxine?
It’s designed to sit alongside it, with a gap. Take your levothyroxine first as directed, then wait at least 4 hours before your AM serve, because the AM formula carries minerals. Food and breakfast follow your medication’s own label, usually 30 to 60 minutes. If you take it at night, have your PM serve earlier in the evening so the same 4-hour gap applies. ThyroBase never replaces medication you’ve been prescribed.
I’m not on thyroid medication. Is ThyroBase for me?
Yes. ThyroBase is food-style nutrition built around the nutritional needs that change with a thyroid condition, whether or not you take medication. Nothing in it acts on your thyroid hormones, and it is not a treatment for anything. If you do take thyroid medication, timing matters: medication first, then the AM serve at least 4 hours later, because the AM formula carries minerals. If you don’t, it is simpler still: AM with breakfast, PM about 45 minutes before bed. As with anything you add, talk to your doctor, especially if you have been told you need medication. ThyroBase never replaces treatment you have been prescribed.
Does ThyroBase replace thyroid medication?
No. ThyroBase is food-style nutrition, not a medicine. Nothing in it acts on your thyroid hormones, and it never replaces treatment you’ve been prescribed. Don’t stop or change your medication without talking to your doctor.
